Intergroupe participe à une nouvelle plateforme technologique
The new brokerage firm Apoint Assurance, associated with the Intergroupe banner, will use a new brokerage management system (BMS), called Persona. It was developed by Alain Roy. « This BMS was designed by a broker and for brokers, » says Bernard Laporte, president of Intergroupe.
The system manages functionality with customers and insurers. The development and updating of the BMS is much more flexible, » says Bernard Laporte.
The new subsidiary will be called Intergroupe Tech, and the name and contract for its creation were determined the day before our interview with Mr. Laporte on January 19.
In addition to Apoint, two other firms are already using the BMS. Three other firms have expressed interest. Bernard Laporte plans to make the official launch as part of P&C Insurance Day on March 30.
« We’re not here to brag and pretend we’re going to revolutionize the MSI market. We’re going to take it one step at a time, in a small way, » he says. Intergroupe Tech will offer the service to firms at a pace that will allow to serve them well, he adds.
Intergroupe Tech wants to make things easier and more user-friendly for brokers and Bernard Laporte believes that the new WSB will fulfill this function.
Tech Intergroup
Alain Roy notes that his platform OneSolutionSVP has changed its name to Caesar BMS since spring 2020. The same BMS is offered under the Persona brand for Intergroupe member firms. « We chose this name because people can customize it. Our BMS is flexible. We tailor it to the needs of the practice, not the other way around, » he says.
« For both of our companies, it’s a good match, » Roy adds. His WSB had generated a lot of interest within the banner.
Mr. Roy helped to set up the kangoo platform. One thing led to another and the partnership that led to the creation of Intergroupe Tech was a natural one.
The banner’s brand is already well known in Quebec. Even though Alain Roy has been developing his brokerage management system for four years, some firms remained apprehensive about the developer’s support capacity. The partnership with Intergroupe should convince the skeptics, according to Mr. Roy.
Service offer
In the case of a new firm that does not yet have clients, Alain Roy says he needs half a day to train the broker to use his BMS. The situation is obviously more complex when the firm already has a database and needs to transfer it.
« I walk them through it to make sure the transition is smooth. But the fact remains that the firm has to spend time providing me with the information. » Until the transition is complete, the client does not immediately pay for their license on a monthly basis for the new BMS. The firm only pays for staff training and transfer fees.
He recently assisted in the transition of a $3.2M practice, where the transfer represented over 100,000 PDF files. The schedule can be established in advance with the firm, in stages. The broker can continue to use the old client database until the transfer is complete.
« The process can be done fairly quickly, depending on the firm’s ability to provide us with the information we need to make the change, » says Alain Roy.
« We already know where the irritants are, the firms are forewarned, they know where the pitfalls are and we explain the steps, » he says. The contractor, himself a broker, aims to reduce these irritants.
All BMS are used to manage customer data. Alain Roy says that Caesar (and Persona) offers a more user-friendly and flexible platform. « I get suggestions every week to improve the software, » he says. The updates are done in continuous mode.
